Gainesville in Hall County

Located about an hour north of Atlanta, Gainesville sits on the southeast side of Lake Lanier. Though it’s the largest town in Hall County, the 30,000 or so population still enjoys its area’s small town feel. Thanks to the lake, tourism is big business here, and so is poultry. Georgia is a major poultry producer, and Gainesville is at the heart of that industry. There’s even Poultry Park, featuring a rooster at the top of a granite obelisk. After a major tornado tore downtown Gainesville apart in 1936, much of it was rebuilt in an art deco style. The downtown area is a thriving oasis of shops and restaurants with a beautiful park at the center. There are homes to meet just about any budget in Gainesville.
