The Cabbagetown Revitalization and Future Trust is credited with the neighborhood's revitalization. In the late 1980s, it began encouraging home renovation and the building of new infill homes. The group's work phased out in the past few years as energetic new buyers moved into the area to restore old homes and fill the few remaining vacant lots with architecturally compatible dwellings. New developments – actually redevelopments, such as the apartments and condos of the Stacks at Fulton Cotton Mill – provide an interesting contrast to the small shotgun houses lining the narrow streets. One of the most puzzling pieces of Cabbagetown's history is its name. The story of a truck loaded with cabbages that overturned in the middle of Boulevard is the one most folks cite for the unusual name.
