Candler Park was one of Atlanta's earliest neighborhoods. Most of its homes date from the early 1900s, when the one-story, craftsman bungalow was an affordable style. The National Register of Historic Places lists Candler Park as an intact historic neighborhood with a collection of historically significant houses. The area, with its laid-back feel, is very pedestrian friendly. Locally owned restaurants and shops now compete for business with the many chain offerings at nearby Edgewood retail district. New homes, whether rehabbed lofts or freshly built town homes, spring up regularly. Candler Park is bounded by Moreland Avenue on the west, Clifton Road on the east, North Avenue on the north and DeKalb Avenue on the south.
