Belvedere Park is located in DeKalb County, just east of East Lake and south of Avondale Estates and the city of Decatur. The neighborhood was built in the early 1950’s on a former dairy farm. It is one of the county's first modern subdivisions. The houses are mostly brick ranches in keeping with the style of the era. The neighborhood is transitioning as young families and professionals discover it. Many homes for sale are listed for less than $300,000. The area is served by bus routes, and is convenient to the Avondale and Decatur MARTA stations. Plans for the PATH to run parallel to Shoal Creek and connect the neighborhood to downtown Decatur, Stone Mountain, and Arabia Mountain are in the works. The former Avondale Mall site has been razed and a new Super Wal-Mart is being built. Midway Park has numerous ball fields used for playing baseball and football and a public swimming pool. Shoal Creek Park has baseball, soccer, and multi-use fields, basketball and tennis courts, a playground and picnic area. Children attend DeKalb County schools. Knollwood Elementary, located in the neighborhood, earned Title I School status by achieving Annual Yearly Progress for four years straight.
